Where We Serve

Hilos was created and founded in the lovely country of Guatemala. Guatemala is a country of rich culture and vibrant color. Guatemala is considered a developing nation and with that comes various hardships. Many women and single moms suffer abuse, sexual violence, and often times are not given the same rights and opportunities as their male counterparts.  Our heart is to care to those who are too often mistreated and overlooked. Genesis 16, when the Lord comes to Hagar in the wilderness after she was abused, rejected, and left alone with a son she could not support, is one of the passages that inspires this project. We believe and agree with Hagar in naming God the God who sees - El Roí. We long for Guatemalan women to know and learn God's true heart for them. We hope that they will come to know their true worth and experience the healing that only the Lord can give to them.  Seen, heard, and empowered - we long for restoration.
