Hilos

Hilos means "threads" in Spanish. We use thread and embroidery as a way for us to help connect women to one another and to the heart of God.  We believe education, skills training, and intentional discipleship can help women create the change they want to see in their lives.

Our Approach

EMBROIDERY
TRAINING

Many women in Guatemala spend majority of their time working at home. Single moms and widows are often unable to work outside their homes due to a lack of childcare and/or cultural expectations. Embroidery is a skill that women can work on while at home and it is something that is culturally acceptable. We offer free embroidery workshops for women to be a space of community, an opportunity for them to hear the gospel, and to learn a valuable skill.

Discipleship and love for Jesus is the breath and life of what we do as a ministry. We believe that one on one discipleship is where growth and true vulnerability collide.

Each participant is expected to participate in some form of discipleship whether through our ministry or through their local church. We believe and know that so many ministries we work with are already doing a great job discipling the women in their community. We come alongside

DISCIPLESHIP

JOB OPPORTUNITIES

After the embroidery workshop trainings, it is possible for dedicated women to begin working with us to help supplement their income. Each woman is provided a contract that is mutually agreed upon and compensated monthly for their work. Each Hilos product you purchase goes towards supporting the Hilos Participants.
